This Fine Silver Proof $1 NCLT Coin was issued by the RAM in the 2023 & 2024 Fine Silver Proof Sets.
The 2023 Set was commemorating the Special Memorial Obverse used on Australian coins in 2023. It contained five other definitive coins all with the Memorial obverse.
The 2024 Set was commemorating the Change of Monarch. The set contains six coins, five of them (5c, 10c, 20c, 50c & $1)with different effigies of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The $2 coin in the set has the first effigy of King Charles III on its obverse.
The $1 coin in the set displays the 6th effigy by Jody Clark used on Australian coins from 2019 to 2024.
According to centuries-old tradition, Australia's coins bear an effigy of the reigning monarch on their obverse. Queen Elizabeth II was Australia's longest-serving monarch. Although new effigies are introduced rarely, there have been six effigies of the Queen on Australia's coins prior to her death.
Mary Gillick (1953-1964), Arnold Machin (1966-1984), Raphael Makleouf (1985-1998), Vladimir Gottwald (2000, 1 coin only), Ian Rank-Broadly (1998-2019) and Jody Clark (2019-2024).
