Obverse

Arabic text in three rows in the center. First row "لا اله الا".
This text is surrounded by one row of Arabic text. Starting with "بسم الله" at 1 o'clock reading from right to left.
In the outer margin there is another text in Arabic quoting the Quran 30:4-5, starting with لله at 1 o'clock. Reading from right to left.

الله وحده
لا شريك له

بسم الله ضرب هذا الدرهم بسمرقند سنة ثمان و اربعين و ماىتىن

لله الأمر من قبل و من بعد و يومئذ يفرح المؤمنون بنصر الله

Translation:
There is no god but
Allah alone
Without partners

In the name of Allah, this dirham was struck in Sur man ra'a in the year eight and forty and two hundred (248).

To God belongs the command before and after, and on that day the believers will rejoice in God’s victory.

To God
Muhammad

Al-Muntasir by God

Muhammad is the Messenger of God. He sent him with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religions, even though the polytheists hate it.
