Since the creation of the Potosí mint (1574) until the end of the reign of Phillip II (1598) seven different assayers were in charge of the design and finess of the coinage: R (Alonso Rincón), M (unknow, possibly Manuel García), B (Juan Ballesteros), L (unknown, possibly Lopez Barriales), C (unknown), A (Juan Álvarez de Reynaltes) and RL (Baltazar ramos Leceta). L, C and RL acted as lieutenants of Juan Ballesteros.
