The original entry for this coin listed the decoration on the reverse as a “Kufic calligraphic”. Kufic is the oldest calligraphic form of the various Arabic scripts developed in the 7th century. The design elements are perfectly symmetrical and although somewhat similar in style, there appears to be no calligraphy.
