Comments
The hallmark of this token is an indicator hand without the word SILVER or a cornucopia with the word SILVER (refrappe).
A version of this token also exists in red copper, also 15 mm in size.
These tokens were certainly struck to commemorate the christening of their son Napoleon IV and distributed to the crowds during the festivities.
There are also variations on the size of the lettering for the date 14 JUIN 1856.
