Comments

This bimetallic coin was struck by the Royal Mint and issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in 1994 to Commemorate 225 years since Lt. James Cook left England to explore the Pacific in 1769. The coin was issued in three different versions. This is the Gold Proof version made from a 22 carat yellow gold inner ring and a 9 carat white gold outer ring. It was issued in a capsule in a plush red box with certificate.

The other versions of the coin were a base metal bimetalic and a silver proof with base metal inner ring.
