Draped bust of Bahram I right, wearing diadem, radiate crown with ear flap, and korymbos; sun with eight rays in right field.

Script: Inscriptional Pahlavi

Fire altar flanked by two attendants standing facing, turned outwards, attendant on left wearing radiate crown with korymbos, attendant on right wearing mural crown with korymbos, each with grounded scepter in outer hand.

Script: Inscriptional Pahlavi

Lettering: NURA ZI to right, Varahran to left, ADAShTNI above.

Unabridged legend: Fire of Wahram.

Comments

The king's crown with radiant elements signified his dedication to Mithra, the Persian god of Light and Sun, thus the juxtaposition of the sun symbol in the field and the radiant crown.
