Obverse

Center shows the entrance gate and chapel of the Schloßvippach estate - the "Schloss" the town is named after. The building in the back with the onion dome is typical for Thuringian manor chapels.

The side panels have wheat and barley ears. That’s a nod to agriculture being the main livelihood in Schloßvippach, and also a common motif on rural Notgeld to symbolize sustenance and harvest.

Lettering:
Geldnot u. Notgeld

Die Not des Krieges, die Schäden aus Erpressen,
haben die Kassen der Städte leer gefressen.

Die Republik hat die Steuern genommen,
von der die Städte nichts wiederbekommen.

Geldnoten aus Geldnot druckt’s Reich in ewiger Kette,
und Notgeld aus Geldnot die deutschen Städte.

Translation:
Money shortage and Emergency money

The distress of the war, the damage from extortion,
have eaten the city treasuries empty.

The Republic has taken the taxes,
from which the cities get nothing back.

Paper money from money shortage is printed by the Reich in endless chain,
and emergency money from money shortage by the German cities.
