St. Anne’s Academic Church (Kościół Akademicki św. Anny) is one of Poland’s most stunning historical sites, located right next to the Royal Castle at the start of the Royal Route.

While its plain Neoclassical facade is elegant, the interior is a breathtaking masterpiece of Baroque and Rococo art, filled with gold altars and spectacular "illusionist" ceiling frescoes.

Why it’s famous:

  • Student Hub: It serves as the primary spiritual center for Warsaw’s university students.
  • The View: Its detached bell tower offers the most famous panoramic view of the Old Town and the Vistula River.
  • History: It is one of the few buildings in Warsaw that survived World War II without being completely leveled, preserving its authentic historical atmosphere.
