Man pushing a wheelbarrow to the right in which is an ancient tree, watched by a serpent
Engraver: Ronald Pennell
Three dead trees in a barren landscape
Script: Latin
Lettering:
1985
RP
Engraver: Ronald Pennell
Plain
Obverse: engraved on a glass lens, from which moulds were taken and a medal cast in silver.
Reverse: carved on the silver medal which then served as a master from which moulds were taken for the broze examples.
About this medal the artist wrote:
A tree for me shows a man wheeling away the last ancient tree in a wheelbarrow perhaps for preservation in a museum! The serpent, with all it represents in mythology and christianity, observes all. On the reverse, three dead trees in a barren landscape. I am an optimist, but everyone alive today must think from time to time - where, when and how will it all end?
