Comments

On 19 March 2026, Swissmint issues the new 20-franc silver special coin “Lake Geneva”. Struck in fine silver (999), this coin is the third issue in the four-part “Swiss Lakes” series and pays tribute to Switzerland’s largest lake as a unique natural and cultural heritage site at the heart of Europe.

With around 1,500 lakes and a dense network of rivers, Switzerland is considered an important water reservoir in the heart of Europe. Its lakes not only shape the landscape but also serve as habitats for numerous animal and plant species. At the same time, they are places of tranquillity, leisure and inspiration. With the “Swiss Lakes” coin series, Swissmint is paying tribute to this extraordinary natural and cultural heritage and sending a clear signal about its importance. The series will be completed in 2027 with the special coin “Lake Lucerne”.
