From an eBay listing, “Friedrich Ludwig Haarmann (1798–1864) was a German architect and district building official who, in 1831, founded the Baugewerkschule (School of Building Trades) in Holzminden, Germany. It was the first institution of its kind in the country, created to provide professional training for masons, carpenters, and builders at a time when formal education in the trades was rare. After Haarmann’s death in 1864, his contributions were honored with a monument in Holzminden. On January 4, 1869, the monument was unveiled in a public ceremony (Open AI).”
