This coin is generally considered to date from the 16th century, when the coins of Mogadishu generally became anonymous. The ‘Sultanate of Holy War’ may refer to the conflict in that century with the Portuguese. As with the dates of most other coins from the Sultanate of Mogadishu, dating is quite speculative.
