The inscription in the center reads: 1 YASAK (tax) 1774 IN SOFT JUNK (furs) OR IN A CASTING SABLE (a copper ingot with a sable stamp).
The inscription around the edge of the medal reads: 250 YEARS OF THE CAPTIVITY OF THE PAST (prokhodimets - obsolete) FROM POLISH-LITHUANIAN COMMONWEALTH - the arrest of Yemelyan Pugachev and a reference to his Polish connections.
