The Obverse of the medal shows a copy of the medal designed by Jeremias Hercules, who was a die cutter (medalist) at the Mint in Copenhagen, to commemorate the naval battle off the coast of Elsinore (Kronborg Castle) in October 1658, when a Dutch fleet defeated the Swedish fleet and Denmark was under Swedish occupation.
