Almora Mint, Gurkha Occupation

In Nepalese history, the name Yuddha primarily refers to Girvan Yuddha Bikram Shah, the fourth King of Nepal. Role and Territory

  • King of Nepal: Girvan Yuddha reigned from 1799 to 1816. He ascended the throne as an infant after his father, Rana Bahadur Shah, abdicated.
  • Ruler of Kumaon: He was the sovereign ruler of Kumaon during a significant portion of his reign because Nepal had annexed the region in 1790. Kumaon remained under Nepalese control throughout his rule until the Treaty of Sugauli (1816), which ended the Anglo-Nepalese War and forced Nepal to cede the territory to the British East India Company.
