The colorful rainbow symbolizes the covenant between all creatures and their Maker made with Noah immediately after the Flood. Man pledged to adhere to certain basic and universal moral principles, in return for which God promised never again to destroy all life from the face of the earth. "God said to Noah...'This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth'" (Genesis 9:12). The "Everlasting Covenant" medal by Yaacov Agam depicts a brightly colored rainbow symbolizing mankind's personal link with the Creator. A small protrusion at the center allows the medal to spin rapidly on a smooth surface, expressing perpetual motion and flux, the essence of life.
