Mitch-LW.350/351

Sultan Dilawar was appointed governor of the island by the Arakanese in 1617 and was ultimately captured, at the age of about 80 years, by the Mughal forces of Aurangzeb in 1665, after which he was imprisoned in Dhaka (Jahangirnagar), where he died soon afterwards. This is the only coin that is known to have been produced for the little island of Sandwip. Mitchiner knew of only one specimen of type LW.350 in the British Museum and one of LW.351 in an unspecified collection in Calcutta.
