2005 Calcutta has two varieties - large and small date. There is not an obvious difference in the size of the text however the number 5 in the date shows a difference in thickness and design.


In 2006, some coins from Mumbai were struck with obverse die 3: the top of "6" is wide and the bottom is narrow.



There are two variants of the cross design.
Small design: right vertical crossbar extends to the first E in RUPEES
Large design: right vertical crossbar extends to the second E in RUPEES
