Comments

DG “Departamento de Grabado” (Department of Engraving).

Copper pattern not adopted. It is the first of two patterns for the bronze coin of the Monetary Reform of 1848, which decreed the Real as the sole monetary unit. It does not feature the legend “POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS Y LA CONSTITUCIÓN” (by the Grace of God and the Constitution) and the reverse design is different.
