This is a work encampment token issued by the Luis E. DelMonte company which was a coffee plantation in that town. Mr. DelMonte appears to have been a wealthy philanthropist in that city and according to various online sources he made various donations of items (i.e. public clocks, parks, etc.) to that city. He died on October 9th, 1954.
