Comments

In 1948, in Cádiz, a series of coins with a one-peseta module were minted in the San Carlos workshop. From 1946 to 1947, several pragmatic decrees were issued urging the minting of coins with a value of 1 peseta at the Royal Mint in Madrid. To this end, the Spanish Naval Construction Society (Sociedad Española de Construción Naval) was commissioned to assemble six coining presses. The machines were assembled in one of this institution's spaces, specifically, in the San Carlos Workshops, in San Fernando, Cádiz. It was at the Spanish Electromechanical Society in Córdoba that the blanks for minting this series of coins were collected… the same blanks that were to be used to mint the Caudillo's first pesetas. In 1948, after these test mintings, without face value, the first peseta coins were issued in the same year (dictated by previous pragmatics).

This pattern in gold commemorate Francisco Franco, San Carlos workshop visit in October 15th, 1948.
