Comments

Medal alluding to Ecology to celebrate the creation of Brazil's Special Secretariat for the Environment in 1974 (changed to Ministry of Environment in 1985 and to Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in 2023). Bird of paradise (Strelitzia reginae Banks) is a plant native of South Africa and world-widely used in urban afforestation. Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) is a evergreen tree native to South America with an edible fruit. “A terra em tal maneira é graciosa” is part of the Pero Vaz de Caminha's letter to D. Manuel I, king of Portugal, written in 1500 when Portuguese first reached the Americas.
