Comments

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the canonization of the members of the Imperial Family as Passion-Bearers by the Russian Orthodox Church, the St. Petersburg Mint, a branch of Goznak, issued a commemorative set of silver medals dedicated to this anniversary: "The Imperial Family. Holy Royal Passion-Bearers." The family of the last Emperor of the Russian Empire, including their minor children, was summarily executed in Yekaterinburg in 1918. Along with the royal family, their entourage was also executed.

For the first time in medal making, each member of the imperial family is dedicated to a separate medal.

The set consists of seven medals featuring portraits of members of the imperial family and a central element in the form of the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. The reverse sides bear the year of life of each member of the imperial family and the coat of arms of the Russian Empire.

All pieces are made of 925 sterling silver. The set was produced in a limited edition of 500 copies. Each set includes a certificate in Russian and English indicating the serial number, a description of the product's technical specifications, and text about the family of Emperor Nicholas II.

The packaging features an illustration by artist E. Samokish-Sudkovskaya from the book "Coronation Collection, Volume 1." The book was printed in 1899 by the Expedition for the Procurement of State Papers; a copy is held in the collection of JSC Goznak.
