The king, seated on his throne, crowned with the royal crown, clad in the mantle of Grand Master, his collar around his neck, receives the oath from a knight who, kneeling at his feet, places his hand on the Gospel presented to him by the master of ceremonies, while the provost, standing behind him, reads the statute of the order of the holy spirit, all under a dove and rays descending from heaven.

Refrappes of a medal dated 1579 illustrating the sovereign's piety and vision of divine power, they were produced in the XIXᵉ and XXᵉ centuries by the Monnaie de Paris in commemorative series for the Kings of France. This example probably dates from the 1960s-1970s.
