The unifying line of the series is the cranes. "The Cranes" is a song by the composer Yan Frenkel to the lyrics of Rasul Gamzatov, translated into Russian by Naum Grebnev. It is one of the best and most popular Russian-language songs about the war in Russia and around the world.
