Comments

"Nieuwendijk" was an “automatiek”, located at Nieuwendijk 181 in Amsterdam. In an automatiek, food (mostly fast food) is prepared on one side of a wall, and kept warm in boxes in the wall. The windowed boxes can be opened by inserting coins or tokens in a machine that controls the locks, and the food can be taken out.
