JONS No. 206 by Govindraya P S
"This coin features both Kannada and Telugu scripts and is attributed to the Chhindaka Nagas during the reign of Someshvara I of the Kalyani Chalukyas. Known by the title "Anana Singma," meaning "as fierce as a lion," it reflects Someshvaradeva's martial prowess. His campaigns against the Cholas led to the successful reclamation of Vengi and parts of Kalinga, aided by the Chhindaka Nagas, Eastern Gangas, and other allies. Someshvaradeva's reign ended in 1068 CE when, stricken by chronic illness, he performed ritual suicide in the Tungabhadra after being overwhelmed by Rajendra Chola's decisive attack at Kudalasangama."
