Comments

Embedded security thread running from top to bottom is located to the right of the portrait depicted on the banknote face.

The name of the former president depicted on the banknote is erroneously written as “Rafael Yglesias Castro”, whereas the correct would be “Rafael Iglesias Castro”. The was a result of confusion caused by the similitude of cursive capital letters “I” and “Y”. In different archives the last name is written with the same initial as names who don't have a variation with “Y”, as “Ignacio". At the same time, the Costa Rican Civil Registry has registered the last name of the president as “Iglesias” in the birth certificate of the president's sons (as it was created years after its birth).
