ESTABLISHED 1855
Engraver: Leonard Charles Wyon
Museums Victoria: Medal issued in 1901 to publicize the Sydney Branch of the Royal Mint, established in 1855. The Mint did not have the ability to prepare dies from artwork, obtaining its coinage dies directly from London. The Mint's ability to even harden engraved dies was questionable.
