Baldwin's: Sigel's medal was sponsored by the American Numismatic and Archaelogical Society and their name still shows on a ribband woven into the wreath on the reverse, even though they had no involvement with the medal. The medallist's signature has been removed. In fact the obverse and reverse dies of this medal were cut in England by the Wyon family "so as to show the work of a reducing machine in copying from the original medal of size 83mm."
