Comments

Issued after the great famine started in 1783, at 125 Ryō of scrips for 100 Ryō of gold. However, due to resist merchants, the scrip devalued to 1/50 of original value by just half year, and the domain had to give up. Sendai domain tried to buy rice from other domains (such as Owari or Mogami), but failed, expanding famine greatly.

降福孔皆 is part of Book of Poetry 詩經 → Sacrificial odes of Zhou 周頌 → Decade Of Chen Gong 臣工之什 → 279 Feng Nian 豐年. Translation by James Legge.
