Sicily sold tons of wheat to Hafsid North Africa during 1489 to avert a famine, and were paid in dinars. By a September 24, 1489 decree, the countermarking of these coins was authorized, for their circulation in Sicily at a value of 29 silver carlini (14.5 taris)
