Comments

For all notes in this serie the decorative pattern to the left, on the obverse exist in 3 different designs. So called Wium types I, II and III. For this note, the difference lay in how the decorations and letter intertwine.

Based on Standard Catalog of World Paper Money:
This is an overprint on the Danish P# A25a: 1748, with watermark as Frederick V monogram and impressed stamp.

Issued under the decree of 11th of May, 1775 about the use of Courant banknotes in the Danish West Indies. Issued from August 1777.

It was here decided that 100 Rigsdaler Danish Courant should equal 125 Rigsdaler West Indies Courant.

When the Dansih West Indies notes had circulated for for around 7 years, they were so worn down they got exchanged for new types and the worn out notes were then sent to Copenhagen to be burned. It was done so the total value of banknotes on the islands never exceeded 200 000 Rigsdaler.

Due to this very meticulous exchange of notes, the notes from before 1849 are vary rare.
