| Mint of Poland (Mennica Polska), Warsaw, Poland (1766-date) |
In April 1994, the Mint was transformed into a single-shareholder Treasury company "Mennica Państwowa Spółka Akcyjna", and on September 26, a new building was inaugurated at ul. Żelazna 56. This is the new building of the Żelazna Mint, which was demolished in 2016. At the turn of August and September, the first Polish bimetallic circulation coins were minted - 2 PLN and 5 PLN - the latter with the simultaneous connection of the core to the ring, and in January 1995, the Polish zloty was denominated and the coins were returned to monetary circulation. In 1995, the first Polish gold coins based on the ounce standard were minted.
On April 7, 1998, the Mint's shares were listed for the first time on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The company also began operating in the field of electronic payments. Since December 2001, it has been operating the City Card system in Warsaw.
Since 2004, the company has enjoyed a legal monopoly on the production of all Polish stamps for sworn translators.
Hel ( Kashubian: Hél, German: Hela), is a Polish town on the peninsula of the same name, north of Gdańsk.
