Plain
Kaal Ponds or Blank Ponds are the result of the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek Mint being cleared out by the ZAR government and all gold and silver coins moved to Middelburg before the British Army took occupation of Pretoria on the 5th June 1900.
These coins are blank gold rounds that were ready for striking for the 1 Pond but never got minted.
