Citing Yahya b. Asad and the Tahirid overlord, Tahir II b. ‘Abd Allah. In 819, Yahya b. Asad was granted authority over the city of Shash by Caliph Al-Ma'mun's governor of Khorasan, Ghassan b. ‘Abbad, as reward for his support against the rebel Rafi’ b. Laith.
