The episcopal Fronwaage (city scale) was located at the Weinmarkt (Maximilianstrasse 55, house Lit. A21).
The official authorities of the city and bishop only had limited trust in the collectors at the city scales. They assessed the risk that the collected, sometimes considerable sums of money, would be embezzled and not delivered. A remedy for this was the indirect payment of the weighing fee with stamps and symbols, which must be purchased and paid for in advance at an official location.
