Value and control number
Script: Latin (cursive)
These notes are the only banknotes issued under Danish rule over Norway, for Norway only. At the time before and after, Danish notes were legal tender in Norway too. These notes were circulating in Norway only.
The trader and shipowner Jørgen Thormøhlen was a good friend of Christian V, he needed money and got an interest free loan by the king, which he later was unable to pay back.
All notes bear the same text, signatures and seals. The value and control numbers are handwritten. The wax seals are with a portrait of Christian V in the top and the three in the bottom, from left to right: Jørgen Thormøler. Jacob Sørensen (interest writer) and Lauritz Mauritzen Trap (interest writer).
The four wax seals were removed when a note was issued so avoid counterfit, so the seal matched the notes going back to the Treasury. Under each seal it was also signed by the respectiv seal owner.
Since some notes had their seals torn of and some was never issued they exist with and without the seals.
