Obverse

Blue print on white paper.
Values in the corners of the decorative frame and in 3 out of 4 sides the value is written out. Bottom of the frame has the serial number. In the center the value, on top of a pair of dolphines around a traiten. On each side of value the Greenlandic crowned polar bear as coat of arms, with the polar bears facing to the left. Above and below is the promisory text.

Comments

This note and its almost identical twin from 1905 is different not only in year but also in the colour of blue. The 1905 has a light blue colour, where the 1897 version is just blue, according to World Catalog of Paper Money.

Note this P# 5a has a handwritten serial number, where the others are stamped.
