1843-1876 Thomas Perkins, grocer, 9 and 28 High Street. 1876-1884 Thomas Perkins & Son, wine & spirit merchants, 9 High Street. 1884-1887 as previous, but 1 The Priory. (N & A Cox).
1851 census: Thomas Perkins 30, born in Chepstow, wife Eliza, 30, born in Cardiff, they had two children named after their parents. They had a shopman and a housemaid. In 1861 only the son remained at home helping his father in the business. They had two shop assistants and a domestic help. In 1871 he styled himself as grocer and wine merchant, his son, now 25, was working in the business along with a shopman, and one general servant. In 1881 he was a brewer and wine merchant, still in the High Street, with his wife, a 14-year-old niece and a servant.
