Made up of two towns nestled on either side of the Moselle, Bernkastel-Kues has the most impressive half-timbered complex in the entire region. Depicted on the ticket, the town centre, a maze of narrow streets, is almost entirely made up of historic buildings dating from the Romanesque and Gothic Middle Ages as well as from the Renaissance and Art Nouveau. The city also hosts the biggest wine festival in September and is home to renowned winegrowers.
