Researchers agree that 1/2 Byzantine liter (163.73 grams) was taken as the weight norm for the Kyivan grivna. Hexagonal grivnas are found in hoards with coins no earlier than 1081-1143 and completely cease to be found in hoards of the second quarter of the 13th century
