These banknotes were developed by the Provisional Government in 1917. Release was planned to begin in 1918, but the October Revolution brought corrective amendments. They entered the circulation only in May of 1919.
Printed at the Goznak Factory in Penza.
Block numbers АА - 001-200 were planned to be released. However, only АА - 001-088 were issued. Of each block number, 1 million notes were produced.
“Double-Headed Eagle” Coat of Arms
The Coat of Arms found on the reverse of this note was designed by Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (1876-1942). It was designed for the Provisional Government's use and was adopted by this series of notes as they were designed under the Provisional Government.
