Backdated creation dates
Although this banknote was approved on January 11, 1917, and production began in March, the first series are backdated to July 1, 1916. The aim was to exploit as many calendar working days as possible to produce, at 200,000 bills (eight alphabets) per date, the maximum in the shortest possible time, i.e. around five million bills per month.

a) Paul Ernest-Picard - Alfred Julien-Laferrière (from 01/07/1916 to 19/02/1918)

Addition of a ninth digit to the control number in 1918 (from series 4001 dated February 20, 1918 printed in February 1919), due to a sharp increase in the volume to be produced.
