Translation:
Article 139 of the Penal Code punishes with life imprisonment those who counterfeit of falsify banknotes authorized by the law, also those who pass counterfeit or falsified notes. Those who introduce them into France will receive the same punishment.

A combination of signatories:
a) Hubert Morant - Pierre Vergnes - Gilbert Bouchet (from 23/11/72 to 03/10/74)
Special cases: printing and control defects. From the very first months of "Berlioz" circulation, newspapers reported incompletely printed bills. In addition, two groups of alphabets (83 to 106 and 107 to 127) bear the same creation date (October 3, 1974). These anomalies are directly linked to the various changes made to the printing and control processes for this denomination: switch from letterpress to offset printing, number of bills per production sheet (24, then very quickly 36, compared with 8 or 10 for other denominations in production), size and weight of sheet packs, number of alphabets simultaneously authorized for creation (up to 45 instead of 18).

The spacing between the lines indicating the functions of the signatories (on the right of the front) is reduced to make the signature of the new cashier general Jean-Jacques Tronche more visible; that of the comptroller general is also slightly truncated (from alphabet 128 dated February 6, 1975).

Type 1972 adapted 1976
Addition of a sixth digit to the banknote number (from alphabet 283 dated January 5, 1976) due to the increase in the number of banknotes per alphabet from 2.5 to 25 million units. This measure is part of the drive to simplify indexes, as well as the procedure for authorizing the creation of series, which will be fully applied with the 50 francs type 1976 "Quentin de La Tour", on which the year of issue will replace the creation date. This real-life test on the "Berlioz" is accompanied by a change in the way its control number is calculated: the new control numbers are calculated on the assumption that all alphabets produced up to now already contained 25 million banknotes, rather than 2.5 million.
