Designed at the Royal Mint from sketches by Frederick Atterbury.
Printed on postage stamp paper by Waterlow Bros. and Layton and De La Rue & Co.
There are variations on how the serial numbers are represented.
In the A prefix No. has curved serif with O underline followed by letter over number separated by a dash and 6-digit serial number. (TR1a)
In S & T prefix letter over number is followed by No. with flat serif and dot beneath O and 6-digit serial number (TR1b)
In B prefix as before but with only 5 digits (TR1c)
