The medals where minted by the Staatliche Münzprägeanstalt Hamburg.
The silver medals exist with two different edge inscriptions:
HAMBURGS ~ HAFEN ~ WIRD ~ 800 * 999 * 1989
and
HAMBURGS ~ HAFEN ~ WIRD ~ 800 * * * 1989
both are made of .999 silver
Some of the medals where also minted in brass, copper and gold.
