As per then British in-charge for maldives recorded on his diary that 44,348 coins were withdrawn from circulation and demolished in which 12,980 coins were withdrawn and demolished from government offices. Hence with an estimate of 3,000 coins damaged or lost across the nation. Along with an estimate of 2,652 coins were kept by individuals as individuals hoarded and hid them for its sentimental value and memory.
Rare mint proof strikes in silver and gold exist.
