This Fine Silver (.999) Proof NCLT Commemorative coin was issued as part of the 2005 Fine Silver Six coin Proof set which contained silver versions of coin releases in 2005. A standard 5 cent, standard 10 cent, this 20 cent commemorative, a commemorative 50 cent, a commemorative $1 and a standard $2 were part of the set. The coins were issued in capsules in a beautiful jarra wooden box.
Copper-nickel versions of this coin were released into circulation (Mintage 32,057,000) and also issued in the 2005 Proof, 2005 UNC, 2005 Baby & 2005 Wedding Sets.
The actual coin commemorates the 60th anniversary of the end of World War 2. This design was inspired by a photograph in the Australian War Memorial collection of a soldier returning home to his family.
Copper-nickel versions of this coin were released into circulation (Mintage 32,057,000) and also issued in the 2005 Proof, 2005 UNC, 2005 Baby & 2005 Wedding Sets.
